Volvo expands its 9700 range with double deck touring coach for Europe

SwedenVolvo Buses of Gothenburg, Sweden, has introduced a new version of its 9700 double deck coach. The model is aimed specifically at European coach touring markets and is compliant with the region’s 4.0m height restrictions. The 4-metre high Volvo 9700 DD is powered by a Volvo D11K460 engine certified to run on diesel, HVO and biodiesel (B100) and it is bodied by Carrus Delta OY of Leito, Finland. Full details are to be released following an online launch in early February 2021. (A version designed specifically for express services in the Nordic region, with a height of 4.25m and seating capacity of up to 96 passengers, was introduced a year ago in February 2020).

Ulf Magnusson, Senior Vice President, Business Unit Europe, at Volvo Buses, said: “With the launch of the Volvo 9700 DD for European operations we have a comprehensive range of line haul and tourist buses with a wide variety of versions for customers to choose between. We have already received several orders for the double decker from the Nordic market and it is very gratifying that we will now also be able to offer other European customers this premium class express and tourist bus.”
