NZ – Bus and coach builder, Global Bus Ventures (NZ) Ltd of Rolleston, New Zealand, which in September 2019 was awarded a contract with Auckland Transport to supply a 3-axle Hydrogen Fuel Cell (HFC) city bus for trial as part of the Ports of Auckland hydrogen fuel production and refuelling plant initiative, has started testing the bus in Rolleston late January before delivering it to Auckland Transport in February.

Claiming this new hydrogen fuel cell bus to be the first one designed and built in New Zealand, it features proven components from key suppliers such as Ballard (hydrogen fuel cell stack), ZF (electric drive axle, portal axle and steer axle), Hiringa Energy (refuelling infrastructure), Wabco (braking systems), BoC (hydrogen gas). The hydrogen fuel cell bus uses the Ballard fuel cell to convert hydrogen gas to electricity while the only emissions are pure water.
