New European Union consortium launched to define fuel cell standards for heavy duty transport
By Jim Gibbins - 18th March 2021
Norway / Belgium / EU - A European Union consortium consisting of 25 leading organisations1 in the hydrogen sector has been established to define, develop and test the first European standard for fuel cell modules for heavy duty applications. The lead research company, Sintef2 of Trondheim, Norway, says the name of the consortium is StasHH and that the project officially started January 1, 2021.
The ‘StasHH’ consortium comprises 11 fuel cell module suppliers, nine original equipment manufacturers and five research, test, engineering and/or knowledge institutes – see companies listed below. This body of companies plan to work together to standardise physical dimensions, flow and digital interfaces, test protocols and safety requirements of fuel cell modules that can be stacked and integrated into heavy-duty applications like buses, trucks, trains, ships, and construction equipment.
