Argentina / Brazil – Bus and coach body builder, Metalsur Carrocerias SA (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brazilian company, Marcopolo SA) has reported record sales growth of 321.8% for 2020 with registrations of 232 bus and coach bodies compared with just 55 units in 2019.

Founded in 1989, Metalsur is a traditional manufacturer of coach bodies at its 85,000 square-metre plant in the city of Villa Gobernador Gálvez, Province of Santa Fe. Since the closure of the Metalpar plant in Loma Hermosa, Buenos Aires (a previously-owned joint venture of Marcopolo) in February 2019 and the takeover by Marcopolo of Metalsur in July 2019, Metalsur has concentrated city bus and coach production solely in the Villa Gobernador Gálvez unit.
