Brazil - The São Bernardo do Campo factory belonging to Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Ltda reached an historic milestone in March as it celebrated 50 years of manufacturing the OF front-engine bus chassis range. The first model, the OF 1313, to be built at the factory started sales in 1971. Today the OF chassis range is sold for urban, charter, commuter, tourism, and school transport operations.

According to Mercedes-Benz more than 256,000 OF models have been sold in Brazil over the past five decades, which amounts to more than 5,000 units per year. The OF 1721 chassis model is the most popular today with its sales volume exceeding 99,000 units since its introduction in 1998.
