Volvo hires 400 more people to meet truck demand

BrazilVolvo Trucks Latin America Ltda, which has its headquarters and manufacturing facilities in São José dos Pinhais, Curitiba, Paraná State said it had hired more than 400 temporary employees in January taking its employee numbers to 3,800 employees, slightly more than the 3,700 employed in January 2020, prior to the pandemic.

Wilson Lirmann, president of the group in Latin America, speaking in February 2021, said the Curitiba plant had been operating full throttle to fulfil its truck order book with lead times of three to five months, depending on the model. The assembly lines operate on two shifts and some sectors, such as its cabins and engine production lines were operating three shifts a day.
