Apollo receives NABL certification to conduct ‘wet-grip’ and ‘coast-by noise’ tyre tests at its facility in Oragadam

Gurugram / OragadamApollo Tyres Ltd of Gurugram, has received approval with ISO/IEC 17025 for wet grip and coast-by (run by) noise tyre tests on its track situated in Oragadam, Chennai, which is supported by the Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC) of Chennai to introduce tyre labelling and certification tests in India.

This testing capability is linked with government plan on ‘Star Rating’ of tyres, in line with the Tyre Labelling regulation in Europe. A new automotive industry standard – AIS 142 – in line with UNECE R 117 is being prepared. It comprises evaluation of tyres with regards to rolling sound emissions, adhesion on wet surfaces and rolling resistance – see separate article in this issue.
