New Delhi - Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), based in New Delhi, has mandated oxygen carrying tankers (oxygen transporting tankers which are used for emergency services especially for supporting COVID affected patients) with and without National permits1 capable of carrying oxygen, install Vehicle Location Tracking (VLT) devices compliant with AIS 140 standards.

MORTH says given the current pandemic situation in the country, the need for oxygen supply at health centres and hospitals is now essential. As a result, all vehicles, including those not with national permits and capable of carrying oxygen (such as Argon and Nitrogen tankers converted to carry liquid medical oxygen) shall also be fitted with Vehicle Location Tracking device as per AIS 1402.
