Brazil - Cummins Brasil Ltda of Guarulhos, São Paulo recently acquired a T-Scan Zeiss 3D scanning device (a handheld laser scanner) for digitally measuring equipment and products. The T-Scan Zeiss system can measure a vast range of parts with great precision, provide high quality information, as well as expand the possibilities in terms of analysis of the development process. Additionally, it is capable of scanning different materials and different colours accurately and has a 20 metres cubed measuring volume. The T-Scan Ziess is primarily for doing organic shapes or large castings and initially, the equipment will be used on the company's prototypes dedicated to the Euro VI programme.

The measurements with the new equipment will be used by the engineering team of the engine business units and Cummins Emission Solutions, responsible for developing after-treatment systems related to emission reduction. The advanced 3D scanner technology integrates the concepts of Industry 4.0 manufacturing and is in line with Cummins advances in bringing more innovation and efficiency to your processes.
