Meritor 14Xe electric for medium to heavy trucks to reach the Brazilian market in 2022

Brazil - Meritor do Brasil Sistemas Automotivos Ltd of Resende will launch its 14Xe electric axle in Brazil in 2022. Produced by Blue Horizon, a business unit of Meritor Inc, it will be supplied for fitment in medium, semi-heavy and some heavy trucks, up to 24 tons gvw.

According to Fábio Brandão, product engineering director of Meritor do Brasil, two manufacturers are evaluating the system as a hybrid option for highway operations. Furthermore, Brandão states Meritor is committed to collaborating with OEMs in helping them to migrate to electrification currently with two products: the e-axle, where the electric motor is integrated into the differential as with the 14Xe, or the M120 ECO* (Electric COmpatible) drive axle.
