Brazil / Czech Republic - TatraBras Ltda of Curitiba, State of Paraná - a subsidiary of off-road truck builder, Tatra Trucks AS of Kopřivnice, Czech Republic (a CGS Aerospace company) – has presented to the state of  Paraná its first two 6x6 off-road trucks for the Brazilian market. Imported from Europe, these trucks, one equipped with a Euro 5 engine and the other with a Euro 6 engine, were indicative of the trucks soon to be built by the company at a new plant in Ponto Grossa with start of production earmarked for the fourth quarter this year. This start date was delayed from February this year because of the severe outbreak of the corona virus in Brazil at the end of 2020.

The company says it has been constructing the new plant since the third quarter of 2020, slightly in advance of a formal agreement signed between Tatra and the state of Parana, which committed to allocate tax incentives to encourage Tatra in its investment. The agreement allows for state tax concessions together with a programme of investment totalling BRA102m (USD20.5m) by 2026. Construction of the 6,000 sq. m. building started in Q3/2020 at the junction of BR-376, Rodovia do Café, Diamante do Norte (PR).
