Sweden - Electric truck protagonist, Volta Trucks, which has its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden - as part of several partnership initiatives recently set up to establish a high quality manufacturing footprint for its purpose-built full-electric 16t commercial vehicle, called Volta Zero - has appointed Italian producer of lightweight composites, CPC Group1 of Moderna, to develop and supply sustainable and recyclable composite exterior body panels for the Volta Zero.

This is in line with the company’s sustainable values which saw it build the first Volta Zero truck, launched in September 2020, using sustainably-sourced flax and biodegradable resin composite panels. Volta Trucks says the panels are fully natural, lightweight, and made of high-performance fibre material that is almost CO2 neutral over its lifecycle, and match the stiffness and weight of carbon fibre but use 75% less CO2 to produce.
