Infraprime Logistics to supply 27 electric trucks to Tata Steel

Gurugram – An Indian start-up, Infraprime Logistics Technologies Pvt Ltd (IPLT)1 of Gurugram (near Delhi) has been contracted to supply 27 heavy duty tractor units, model Rhino 5536*, each with a combination carrying capacity of 35 tonnes of steel (minimum), to Tata Steel Ltd of Mumbai. Infraprime uses its expertise to convert any truck with its electric drivetrain and then delivers the truck of a lease rate per kilometre basis. Tata Steel says it plans to use the electric tractor units for transporting its finished steel. 

Tata Steel says this is the first deployment of EVs by any steel producer in the country for transportation of finished steel and plans to deploy 15 EVs at its Jamshedpur plant and 12 EVs at its Sahibabad plant. The first set of EVs for Tata Steel are being put in operation between Tata Steel BSL’s Sahibabad Plant and Pilkhuwa Stockyard in Uttar Pradesh.
