RussiaGAZ, a subsidiary of automotive conglomerate, GAZ Group based in Nizhny Novgorod, has delivered two GAZelle e-NN electric buses for service on a regular city route linking Strigino airport with the Park of Culture metro station in Nizhny Novgorod. The delivery was timed to coincide the 800th anniversary of the city’s foundation.

The 4.6 tonne gross weight battery-powered GAZelle e-NN can carry up to 17 passengers. It combines the standard components of GAZ’s conventional light commercial vehicles with an electric powertrain, which includes a permanent magnet electric motor that delivers peak power of 100KW and maximum torque of 310Nm. The battery storage capacity is 48KW/h allowing for a range of up to 120km with scope to increase this to 200km with additional batteries. The battery pack can be recharged in just 30 minutes. The batteries also recharge during braking – making it particularly suited to city operations with frequent stops.
