UK Wrightbus of Ballymena, a Northern Irish bus manufacturer, announced it plans to create some 300 new permanent jobs, as well as converting 120 of its existing temporary contracts to permanent positions, to ramp up production at its headquarters in Ballymena.

The company will be hiring coachbuilders, welders, vehicle installation electricians, driveline operatives, and factory operatives, to fulfil orders for its hydrogen fuel cell and battery-electric double deck buses. Recent and prospective customers include Birmingham City Council, the National Transport Authority in Dublin, and Swindon Borough Council. Every vacancy is expected to be filled by 2022.
