By Bradley Osborne - 4th October 2021
Sweden / USA – AB Volvo, a manufacturing corporation based in Gothenburg, Sweden, announced its intention to create a unified CAD (computer-aided design) platform in collaboration with software company, PTC Inc of Boston, Massachusetts, USA, to aid product design across various segments, including trucks and buses.
The Volvo Group has previously made use of PTC’s ‘Creo’ software for computer-aided design, and it has also made use of PTC’s ‘Windchill’ software for product lifecycle management. Both applications allow for remote collaborative work, employing digital tools in the design and development of vehicles and components. With the new unified platform, Volvo aims to promote collaboration and reuse of product data across the various subsidiaries and divisions of the Volvo Group, which includes companies such as Renault Trucks and Mack Trucks.
