Bangalore / Sweden – The VECV Bus Division of Bengaluru (a wholly-owned subsidiary of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV) of Pithampur, which incorporates the former Volvo Buses India Pvt Ltd and Eicher Motors Ltd companies) has launched its first fully-built sleeper coach. It is built at its facilities in Hoskote in accordance with not only India’s body building code, the Automotive Indian Standard (code AIS 052) but to Volvo Buses own safety standards. The 15-metre-long sleeper coach has been developed on the Volvo B11R1 three-axle chassis, which features a steer axle at the rear. The first eight buses have been ordered by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation.

The Volvo multi-axle sleeper coach on the B11R chassis offers up to 39 berths and provision for 12.5 cubic metres of luggage. The separate passenger saloon area (the driver’s area and passenger compartment are separate) is offered with a range of  cushions and fabrics that are fire-retardant grade to ensure the highest levels of safety.
