UK Volvo Group UK & Ireland Ltd, a subsidiary of Volvo Trucks Corporation based in Warwick, UK, will introduce updates to its 11- and 13-litre Euro VI engines for heavy-duty trucks in order to improve their fuel economy and driveability. Sales of the new engines have already commenced, with deliveries set to begin next year.

Volvo UK have reportedly reduced the engines’ fuel consumption by minimising internal friction between components and refining the combustion process. Additional smart torque control is enabled with an updated ‘I-See’ technology, which takes into account factors such as vehicle weight and the topography of the road ahead of the vehicle and adjusts engine torque accordingly. Volvo UK claims that updates to the ‘I-Shift’ gearbox will provide faster and smoother gearshifts for improved driveability.
