UK Volvo Group UK & Ireland Ltd, a subsidiary of Volvo Trucks Corporation based in Warwick, UK, is to supply two electric trucks to Fox Brothers Ltd of Blackpool, UK for service as tipper trucks, making them the very first battery-electric tippers in the UK and some of the first in Europe. The trucks will enter service in March of next year and will be employed in local and predominantly urban operations, hauling aggregates, earthworks and recycled materials.

Two Volvo FE Electric 6x2 trucks have been ordered through Thomas Hardie Commercials Ltd, one of Volvo Trucks’ official dealers in the UK who will provide maintenance at its dealership in Preston. The trucks will be mounted with tipper bodywork by Thompsons UK Ltd of Croydon, and will come with day cabs, hydraulically-steered rear axles and 27-tonne plating, with an additional one-tonne allowance to compensate for the additional weight of the batteries.
