Ryze Hydrogen and JCB make purchase agreement with FFI for green hydrogen

UK / AustraliaRyze Hydrogen, a hydrogen distribution company and sister firm of Wrightbus based in Oxford, UK,1 and J C Bamford Excavators Ltd (“JCB”), a manufacturer of agricultural and construction equipment based in Rocester, UK, have signed a memorandum of understanding with Fortescue Future Industries Pty Ltd (“FFI”), a green energy company and subsidiary of Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (which is headquartered in Perth, Western Australia), agreeing to purchase 10% of FFI’s global green hydrogen output. This arrangement will make FFI the largest supplier of green hydrogen to the UK. 

Under the agreement, FFI will handle the production of green hydrogen and logistics to the UK, while JCB and Ryze Hydrogen will manage its distribution within the UK. FFI’s green hydrogen production capacity is estimated to grow to 15 million tonnes per year by 2030 and to 50 million tonnes in the following decade. An extended offtake agreement is also under consideration which would expand the supply and distribution arrangement to the wider European market.
