Slovakia / India – The Amara Raja Group of Tirupati, India, has announced it is to invest EUR10 million in Bratislava-based battery start-up Inobat Auto. InoBat is currently developing 290,000ft² battery R&D centre and pilot line in Voderady, Slovakia, where it plans to integrate research and development activities together with battery cell-manufacturing. The next phase of the project will focus on a manufacturing scale-up through a number of ‘gigafactories’ planned globally.

Recently, InoBat announced that Rio Tinto would invest in the firm to support the development of the pilot line in Slovakia. Once completed, InoBat estimates the facility will have an annual production capacity of 260,000 battery cells.
