Cummins new aftertreatment systems for PROCONVE 8 emissions compliance

Brazil - Cummins Brasil Ltda, a wholly owned manufacturing and sales subsidiary of Cummins Inc based in Guarulhos, São Paulo State, has announced that it has invested around BRA170 million (USD30m) in the development of its new engine platform to comply with the PROCONVE 8 (Euro 6) emissions standard, scheduled for introduction in Brazil from January 1, 2023. According to Cummins Brasil, the introduction of the new emissions standard will see emissions of NOx (nitrogen oxides) and PM (particulate matter) reduce by some 77% and by 66% respectively.

The new electronic diesel engine platform includes 2.8, 3.8, 4.5, 6.7, 9, 12, and 15-litre models, as well as gas options in 9, 12 and 15-litre displacements; the latter gas engines are suited for medium and heavy-duty applications. The brand's engines incorporate new software that maps operating conditions and provides system management for better efficiency.
