Marcopolo delivers 109 buses to Scania in Ivory Coast

Brazil / Ivory Coast Marcopolo SA of Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande Do Sul, Brazil has shipped a first batch of 109 urban buses, out of a total 472 units, to Scania West Africa Ltd of Accra, Ghana. The buses are set to serve the operator Société des Transports Abidjanais (“SOTRA”) for use in the city of Abidjan in Ivory Coast. The total order is set to be delivered in monthly batches until July 2022.

The models ordered include the ‘Viale BRS’, the ‘Viale BRS Articulated’ and the ‘Volare’ line of city buses. Marcopolo will support Scania in providing product service and maintenance to SOTRA as part of the agreement. 402 buses out of the total order are Viale BRS models, built on a Scania K250 UB chassis; the remainder comprises 50 Viale BRS Articulated and 20 Volare Fly 10 Urbano minibuses. 50 of the Viale BRS buses are fitted with Euro VI-compliant compressed natural gas (CNG) engines.
