MORTH to change Road Train rules

New Delhi – Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India of New Delhi has proposed to amend CMVR 1989 by inserting a new Rule, regarding Safety Requirements for Road Trains. It has been proposed that from 01 March 2022 onwards, the procedure for type approval and certification of Road Train, shall be in accordance with AIS-113a, as amended from time to time, till the corresponding BIS specifications are notified under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016). 

Road-train in India is defined as being a motor vehicle wherein the traction is provided by the puller vehicle, which is connected to a serial combination of trailers or semi-trailers. These tend to operate on select stretches to reduce congestion, save fuel and reduce noise and air-pollution.
