SwedenAB SKF, a bearing and seal manufacturing company based in Gothenburg, Sweden, has announced the formation of an Automotive Business Unit as part of its new strategic framework, which will guide company policy through to 2030.

The new unit, headed by David Johansson, will have greater autonomy than before, in an effort to establish a more decentralised operating model. The automotive division will refocus its attention on profitable and growing areas where SKF believes it has a competitive edge, including e-mobility and the commercial vehicle sector. In particular, it will target the production of electric drives, a market which has high growth potential and where SKF claims to hold a strong position already.
