Sweden / Germany – Brakes specialist Knorr-Bremse AG of Munich, Bavaria, Germany has announced that it has sold its 9.2% stake in Haldex AB, a brakes and suspensions manufacturer based in Landskrona, Sweden. Its shares have been purchased for around EUR28m by axle and brake manufacturer SAF-Holland SE of Bessenbach, Bavaria, Germany.

Haldex was the subject of an ownership tussle between Knorr-Bremse and ZF in 2016. Knorr-Bremse eventually withdrew its public offering in the following year, after a review was launched by competition authorities. With its sale to SAF-Holland, Knorr-Bremse no longer holds any financial interest in the Swedish firm. The company stated that its purchase of Haldex shares was “a pure financial investment right from the start”, and it is pleased to have sold them “at an attractive premium”.
