Wrightbus receives order for up to 800 battery-electric buses for Ireland

UK / IrelandWrightbus of Ballymena, UK has signed a framework agreement with the National Transport Authority, the transport authority for Greater Dublin and the public transport licensing agency for the Republic of Ireland, which provides for a firm order of 120 double-deck battery-electric buses and a total of up to 800 battery-electric buses over the next five years. 

Of the 120 Streetdeck Electroliners currently on order, 100 will operate within the Dublin Metropolitan Area, while the remainder will serve Bus Éireann in the Limerick Metropolitan Area. These are slated to begin operating in 2023. The 120-unit order represents an investment of approximately EUR80.4m. Future orders may be placed for buses to serve the cities of Cork, Galway and Waterford. Wrightbus has claimed that the framework agreement is one of the biggest bus procurement orders in the history of the Irish Republic.
