Volvo Buses to introduce a new coach platform with up to 9% fuel cost savings

SwedenVolvo Bus Corporation, a subsidiary of the Volvo Group based in Gothenburg, Sweden, has announced the introduction of a new platform for its premium coach range and for chassis customers which will bring a range of benefits, including a saving of up to 9% in fuel costs. 

The new coach platform will power the Volvo 9000 integral range – which is sold as the Volvo 9800 in Mexico – and the B13R for chassis markets. All Volvo coach chassis will be fitted with the latest iterations of Volvo’s Euro-VI 13-litre engine and I-Shift transmissions. Various configurations will be offered, such as a choice of two or three axles, power ratings between 380 and 500 hp, and a low entry option. Every engine configuration will be able to run on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), while the 460 and 500 hp options will be compatible with biodiesel as well.
