Renault and TVS to build UK’s first electric mixer truck

Electric mixer truck developed by Renault and TVS for Tarmac

UK Renault Trucks UK of Warwick, UK has announced that it is working with Total Vehicle Solutions Group Ltd of Wisbech to supply Solihull-based construction material supplier Tarmac Ltd with a battery-electric mixer truck, which Renault Trucks claims will be the UK’s first such vehicle to enter operation.

The concrete mixer body will be mounted onto a 26-tonne D Wide chassis, powered by a 265-kWh battery system. According to Renault Trucks, the energy capacity offered is enough to meet the power draw requirements of the mixer while also providing a range of up to 120 km. With fast charging within 1.5 and 2 hours, the vehicle is reportedly able to match the normal delivery profile of a conventional mixer truck.
