USA / UKAllison Transmission Inc, a transmissions manufacturer based in Indianapolis, Indiana, has claimed that many commercial vehicle fleets could cut their fuel consumption by 3% by requesting different axle ratios to those offered as standard on new vehicles, according to research conducted by the company.

Allison’s iSCAAN (internet System for Computerized Application Analysis) program can evaluate vehicle configurations and predict performance, including fuel economy, for more than 20 vocational applications. Using this tool, Allison can offer recommendations to customers for driveline ratios and shift calibrations based on the desired application.
