Hon Hai moves ahead with Thai electric bus manufacturing through local JV

Taiwan / Thailand - Horizon Plus Company Ltd, a Bangkok, Thailand-based joint venture between Taiwan’s Hon Hai Technology Group (trading as Foxconn internationally) of Tucheng, New Taipei City, and Arun Plus Company of Bangkok, a subsidiary of Thai state-run energy company, PTT Public Co Ltd, has acquired 50 hectares of land in the Rojana Industrial Park in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthay, north of Bangkok, Thailand to build a plant to produce battery-powered buses based on Hon Hai’s MIH (Mobile in Harmony) Open Platform.

The land purchase by Horizon followed soon after the Thai government’s Board of Investment (BOI) approved the USD1bn investment project incentives under its EV programme, which qualifies it for enhanced investment incentives including a 90% reduction of import duties on raw materials and other essential goods for five years.
