MoRTH proposes minimum levels of fuel consumption compliance for all new commercial vehicles above 3.5t gvw from April 2023

India – The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India (MoRTH), which is based in New Delhi, has issued proposals* requiring all manufacturers of commercial vehicles above 3.5t gvw meet minimum fuel consumption standards.

Aimed at reducing pollution the Indian government plans to make it mandatory for light-, medium- and heavy-duty motor vehicles manufactured in, or imported by India to comply with minimum fuel consumption standards as from April 1, 2023.
