Bus ridership in Brazil lower by 10.8 million a day

Brazil - The demand for paying passengers transported by buses throughout Brazil showed a recovery of 37.8% in 2021 compared with the previous year, according to data* released in August by the National Association of Urban Transport Companies – NTU, which is based in the capital city of Brasília, Federal District.

However, compared with ridership in 2019, i.e., before the pandemic, users of urban public transport in Brazil in 2021 was still some 32.6% lower, or the equivalent to a reduction of 10.8 million** trips made by paying passengers per day across the whole country.
