Volvo Buses unveils the new B510R coach chassis with market introduction planned for 2023

New Volvo B510R coach chassis

BrazilVolvo Buses Latin America Ltda of São Paulo, has launched a new coach chassis, the B510R, which it claims is the most powerful rear-engine chassis in Brazil. It is the same chassis recently introduced in Europe featuring a new 13-litre 500 hp common rail diesel engine with a 510 hp Volvo Engine Brake (VEB), which is 30% more powerful than the previous version and it is fully compliant with Proconve P8/Euro 6 standards, which come into effect in Brazil from 2023. The 13-litre is matched with the new (7th) generation and locally built Volvo I-Shift transmission and features other advances to reduce fuel consumption by up to 9%, Volvo states. A feature of the engine includes Volvo's Intelligent Acceleration technology or software, which delivers just the right amount of torque for the best performance, with maximum economy.

The new coach chassis comes with many Volvo safety systems as standard such as Forward Collision Warning with Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Additional safety includes Active Safety System (SSA), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and disc brakes with a fifth generation EBS electronic control system.
