Largest electric bus depot in the world opens in Qatar

Charging depot in Lusail, Qatar

Qatar / China – On 18 October, the Qatari authorities opened a new e-bus charging facility in the planned city of Lusail, which has been recognised by Guiness World Records as the largest electric bus depot in the world.

Covering an area of over 400,000 square metres, the depot is composed of 24 structures with parking bays for 478 buses to dock and recharge simultaneously. The depot has opened in time to support the 888-strong Yutong electric bus fleet, which is serving visitors to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Following the event, the depot will be incorporated into Qatar’s public transport system. Yutong will be responsible for managing the depot, providing PDI inspection, daily maintenance, and technical support.
