TI Fluid Systems launches thermoplastic refrigerant lines targeted at EVs

New Thermoplastic Refrigerant Tube Line by TI Fluid Systems

UKTI Fluid Systems Plc of Oxford, UK has launched a new range of liquid and suction refrigerant lines made of thermoplastic for automotive thermal management, which it claims are 60% lighter than conventional aluminium and rubber equivalents.

The manufacturer’s ‘Thermoplastic Refrigerant Lines’ technology eliminates the rubber hose and crimp assembly components which would be required in a conventional aluminium-and-rubber arrangement, thus saving on weight. TI Fluid Systems claims that the new design is less likely to leak fluid, which tends to happen at the joints between the rubber hose and the aluminium parts. The company also states that the manufacturing process for its thermoplastic product is less energy-intensive and therefore more environmentally-friendly.
