Bridgestone investing USD250m to expand Costa Rica plant

Costa Rica / USA – Bridgestone Americas Inc, the Nashville, Tennessee-based subsidiary of Japanese tyre manufacturer Bridgestone Corporation, has announced it will be investing USD250m over the next five years to expand and renovate its tyre plant in Heredia, Costa Rica, adding an additional 160 jobs and increasing production by 36% of its premium tyre range. The plant manufactures a full range of tyres including for the commercial vehicle sector.

Forming a part of the Bridgestone E8 sustainability plan, the company has invested more than USD38.5m, of which USD36m has been destined for modernisation and efficiency projects for the tyre manufacturing plant, USD2m for the expansion of the plant in Turrialba (Costa Rica), and USD0.5m to strengthen the operations of the Bridgestone business services.
