SKF investing SEK 1.25bn in Asian facilities

SwedenAB SKF, a bearing and seal manufacturer based in Gothenburg, Sweden, has announced it is investing a total of SEK1.25bn in its manufacturing facilities in China, India and Southeast Asia. 

The larger part of the money, totalling SEK1bn, will be invested in a programme of expansion and modernisation at the company’s factory in Dalian, Liaoning, China. SKF states that the next phase of development at the site will be completed in 2024, increasing its manufacturing capabilities in large- and medium-size bearings. According to SKF’s announcement, the company’s manufacturing footprint in China has been consolidated from sixteen to nine sites over the past four years.
