Petrobras' renewable R5 diesel passes six months of trials in city buses in Brazil

Petrobras' renewable Vibra Diesel R5 on test

Petrobras SA of Araucária, Paraná State has successfully completed tests of its new diesel composition in Brazil, called diesel R, which is composed of 95% mineral diesel and 5% from renewable diesel or biodiesel, made from vegetable sources. The tests are part of the company's BioRefino (BioRefining) programme, aimed at developing a new generation of lower carbon intensity products.

Tests under the programme were carried out with the fuel being used in four city buses operated by bus operator, Autoviação Redentor, for a period of six months between March to September this year. The four buses tested were supplied with approximately 100,000 litres of Diesel R5 and were tested over three different routes.
