Terberg Tractors Malaysia launches battery-electric shunter tractor

The launch of the Terberg YT200EV terminal tractor

Malaysia / Netherlands / UK – Founded in 2005, Terberg Tractors Malaysia Sdn Bhd (TTM) of Puchong, Selangor, a 50:50 joint venture between Malaysian conglomerate, Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd and Dutch special vehicle manufacturer, Royal Terberg Group BV of IJsselstein, Utrecht, announced the launch of its battery-electric tractor, the YT200EV, to guests at the Terberg Manufacturing Plant in Pasir Gudang, late last year. Utilising AI software from UK-based software development company, Aidrivers Ltd, the vehicle has been designed for port and terminal use and is described as “semi-autonomous” by the company.

The YT200EV terminal tractor features 350 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries that provide up to 10 hours of operation and can be fully charged within an hour. The vehicle also features a 240-kW asynchronous water-cooled motor, capable of carrying up to a 90-tonne payload. TTM hopes to expand its reach in the Asian Pacific market, as the new product is now available to customers.
