Scania establishes partnership with Raízen to use 100% biomethane at the São Bernardo do Campo plant

Scania's plant in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil

Brazil - Scania Latin America Ltda and energy company, Raízen Energia SA, based in São Paulo in late October signed a partnership supply agreement of biomethane for industrial operations at Scania’s bus and truck chassis manufacturing factory and headquarters in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, from 2024.

The contract establishes the average supply of 7,800 cubic metres of biomethane per day, a volume that corresponds to 100% of the consumption of the Scania plant. The initiative is part of the actions* being taken by company to meet decarbonization targets. It is also in response to legislation** in Brazil to encourage increased use of natural gas and biomethane.
