Hexagon Purus opens new hydrogen cylinder manufacturing plant in USA

USA / Norway – January 2023 saw the zero-emission division of Hexagon Group, Hexagon Purus ASA, based in Oslo, Norway, open a new 60,000-square-foot hydrogen cylinder manufacturing facility in Westminster, Maryland, USA in order to meet the rising demand from OEMs.

The new facility employs 150 staff and aims to produce up to 10,000 hydrogen Type 4 composite cylinders (per year) used by heavy-duty vehicles. Hexagon Purus has relocated its current Maryland production facility based in Taneytown, which has been operating since 2003 with an annual production capacity of 1,200 cylinders, employing 50 staff.
