Volvo to trial electric trucks in underground operations at Swedish mine

SwedenVolvo Trucks Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden has announced it will be putting two electric trucks into underground operations in a mine owned by multinational metals and smelting company Boliden AB of Stockholm. 

Two ‘FH Electric’ trucks will be trialled in the Kankberg mine near Skellefteå. The first truck will be put into service this year, transporting rock bolts and other equipment down into the mine. Based on the performance of the first truck, a second will later be used for rock and ore transportation.
