Caio concludes export of 200 Apache VIP urban buses to Angola

Caio Apache Vip V of VW chassis for Angola

Brazil / Angola – Bus body builder, Caio Induscar Indústria e Comércio de Carrocerias Ltda (Caio) of Botucatu, State of São Paulo, has completed the export of some 200 Apache VIP 5th generation urban bus bodies on VW chassis to Angola in Africa. The vehicles were acquired last year, as part of the Regular Urban Passenger Transport Project (TURP) in partnership with Caio, Asperbras Group, Volkswagen, Transdata and Pait Consultoria. Shipments began last year, and the last ones were delivered in March.

The Apache VIP bodies were mounted on the Volksbus chassis model EOD 17.230 chassis, with a wheelbase of 5,900mm and overall length of 10,500mm. They are powered by a EURO III engine matched with a manual gearbox. Each have capacity for 66 passengers with access through the front door. The doors are fitted with electro-pneumatic activation and blockers, which prevents the doors from opening unexpectedly during the journey, providing more security during transport.
