Sweden / FranceScandinavian Enviro Systems AB (“Enviro”) of Gothenburg, Sweden has announced the formation of a joint venture with Paris-based private equity firm Antin Infrastructure Partners for recycling vehicle tyres on a large scale across multiple European facilities.

Enviro and Antin revealed that the joint venture’s first facility will be located in Uddevalla, Sweden – a project that was first announced by Enviro in 2021. The partners aim to open the site by 2025. Once fully operational, the Uddevalla facility will recycle 34,500 tons of used tyres, which is reportedly equal to 40% of Sweden’s annual tyre waste volume. Other sites will be opened elsewhere in Europe with the aim of recycling approximately one million tons every year by 2030. The number of tyres disposed of in Europe is growing year on year and currently stands at approximately 3.5 million tons per annum.
