UK government set to help fund new electric bus depot in Leicester

UK – As part of the UK’s Zero Emission Bus Regional Area (ZEBRA)* funding scheme, UK bus operator, First Bus, has announced that a new GBP 6.6 million electrified bus depot will be built in Leicester with construction beginning later this year. The UK government will contribute GBP 2.9 million in grant funding as part of its wider plan to deliver net zero. First Bus will convert the depot by installing new electric charging infrastructure provided by Heliox BV. First Bus announced that an additional 18 electric buses are to be provided by Wrightbus Ltd, which will arrive in Leicester later this year, with 86 hitting the road by March 2024.
