Volvo to produce buses with MCV bodies for European market

Volvo 7900 Electric 2-axle and artic models

Sweden / EgyptVolvo Bus Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden and Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles (MCV) of Cairo, Egypt have signed a Letter of Intent, which would see the two producing electric city and intercity buses for the European market.

The letter expands on a pre-existing deal to sell MCV-bodied Volvo buses in the UK. Electric chassis made at Volvo Buses’ Swedish plants in Borås and Uddevalla will be shipped to Egypt, where MCV will fit bodies for two- and three-axle buses. The electric city bus currently offered by Volvo in Europe is the ‘Volvo 7900 Electric’ range. An intercity range is under development between Volvo and MCV.
