First Hydrogen to test its FCEV van with UK fleet operator

First Hydrogen FCEV van

UK / Canada – Electric light truck startup, First Hydrogen Corporation of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, has partnered with UK fleet operator Rivus to trial its hydrogen fuel cell-powered van in Birmingham and Sheffield, which are served by hydrogen refuelling stations. The one-month trial begins later this year and will measure vehicle performance on pre-planned routes under different driving conditions. An onboard telematics system will gather and process vehicle data relating to efficiency, fuel consumption and performance.

First Hydrogen states the trial will demonstrate to other UK and European delivery fleet operators that hydrogen powertrains possess a greater range and higher payload capacity than equivalent BEVs. First Hydrogen claims that its FCEV van has a 400-600km range on a single fuel tank filled at 700 bar, which only takes five minutes to fill.
