13th anniversary of school bus output at VWCO coincides with production record in Resende of 27,000 school buses

Brazil - With the delivery of 175 Volksbus school buses to the state of Paraná in April this year, Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus Ltda of Resende, Rio de Janeiro announced that production and deliveries had reached a milestone of 27,000 school buses; a national record it claims for units supplied over the last 15 years to the Caminho da Escola program (School bus programme) supported by the Fundo Nacional de Development of Education – FNDE.
Coinciding with the thirtieth anniversary of the Volksbus bus chassis line in Resende, the chassis models for the state of Paraná are the latest Volksbus 8.160 ORE1 and 15.190 ODR models, produced at the development and manufacturing centre of VW Caminhões e Ônibus in Resende, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The 8.160 ORE 1 model offers Mobile Seat Device (DPM) accessibility (wheelchair access) and has the capacity to transport 29 students. The 15.190 ORE 3 bus has the largest capacity, for 59 students, also with DPM.
