Malaysia / USA - Gearbox and e-Axle manufacturer, Allison Transmission Inc of Indianapolis, Indiana, has been selected by Southern Waste Management Environment (SWM) in Malaysia to equip its vehicles with the Allison 3000 transmission. SWM, which manages 40 percent of Malaysia’s waste collection services, is upgrading its fleet with 250 Hino 500 Series refuse trucks which will pair the Hino J08E-WK engine with the Allison 3000 Series six-speed fully automatic transmission with Power Take-Off. These new vehicles are intended to reduce maintenance and downtime whilst enabling the company to collect more refuse in less time. SWM had strict fuel consumption targets, aiming for two kilometres per litre, which they said have been achieved. The company aims to have these vehicles on the road within the next several months.
